DuraCord Rope & Textiles Specific Instrucitons:
Because Duracord doesn't absorb moisture it is naturally stain resistant. If it does manage to get dirty, cleaning is incredibly easy. Most dirt on Duracord fabrics can be removed with some brisk scrubbing in a simple detergent and water solution. With Duracord ropes, rubbing the ropes together in the same solution is the most efficient way to clean them. We suggest a laundry detergent, as we've found it to be the most effective. There is no need to soak Duracord fabrics and ropes because they don't absorb moisture. Rinse the product when finished. If there's tough dirt that won't come out with detergent, a bleach solution can be used, simply treat the stained area with a solution of five parts water to one part bleach and scrub. Rinse when finished. Bleach will not affect the colors in Duracord textiles, so there's no need to worry about fading!
Hammocks:
Try to keep the wooden spreader bars out of the water as much as possible when cleaning the rope or fabric. A good idea is to soak the rope in the bathtub or in a children's pool. If you want to refinish the wood, do it before cleaning the rope. Lightly sand the wood and varnish using a paint brush. Use any kind of polyurethane marine grade varnish.
Rugs: Our DuraCord rugs are probably the easiest thing to clean. Simply lay on any steps and use a soft soap and a brush and clean using a garden hose.
Cushioned Products:
Our cushioned products (Double and Single Cushioned Swings, PiIlow, Comfort Cubes) can be cleaned using the same method as the rugs. Using a garden hose, a soft soap and brush, simply hose away the dirt.
Tough stains:
For tough stains, you can use a spot remover. Simply follow the manufacturer's instruction on the bottle.
Cypress Wood:
As you know, cypress wood first comes in a golden color. After time, it will turn a silver pewter gray; a very sought after look. However, to prevent the wood from drying out, we recommend first lightly sanding it to remove dust and dirt. Afterward, simply apply boiled linseed oil every year. This product is readily available at your local hardware store. Simply apply it using a large paint brush. When new, you can also apply a coat of polyurethane marine grade varnish of your choice. This will help the cypress wood in keeping its original golden tones.
Metal Stands and Accessories:
Our stand are painted using the most advanced technique possible. The powder coated process provides the best protection against the elements. However, leaving any kind of steel outdoor can lead to some rusting. Since the stands are powder coated, we cannot offer any type of touch up paint. However, you can easily find replacement touch up paint at your local car part stores. Simply try to match the paint to your stand as best possible. Lightly sand the rusted area and apply the paint.
